Now that I'm back, I'll resurrect Melanthe as our "kinship vault." For those of you who haven't met Melanthe (one of my alts), she's where we send things we think might be of significant use to other kin members, but don't know who might need them. I try to check in and update the list once a week or more.
If there is something on the list that you want, send Melanthe a mail in-game and she will send it to you. This is a lot easier for me than alt-tabbing in and out of the blog while I'm doing the mail-outs.
Because I cleaned out the pack before I left, there's not much here this week, mostly recipes.
Today, 9/29/07, Melanthe's pack contains:

If
you know a certain member needs certain things off the Wish List, then
just send them directly to that member. Check Resource or Mastery
Items Wish Lists first for common resources and item drops.
Melanthe is for stuff that we think could be useful but don't know who
needs it. Vault space is limited. Melanthe reserves the right to sell
common items, or items which have not been claimed after a reasonable
period of time, for postage and the benefit of the kinship savings
account.

As I said last night while Nav, Farwing and Tryll were kindly escorting me as I stumbled back into the game, the greatest thing for me was to see a troupe of Windriders mounted and galloping together across the countryside.
I left for the summer before we all had mounts so I had never seen this before. It was truly awesome and inspiring. I wish I had taken a screenshot but I was having a hard enough time remembering what all these key are for. ;)
Well, I'm back, or at least I'm d/l ing a vast amount of updates atm, so it may be tomorrow before I can actually log in. I also have to hunt down my log-in, lol, since I seem to have forgotten it.
I have to apologize for being gone so long, basically the summer was full of unexpected personal issues, and also the internet access I had was so awful that I could hardly hold a connection to email, much less play LoTRO, so I didn't spend much time online.
I see that there's some discussion of what to do about Windriders, which I can fully understand. I would also hate to see it die away, though I must say I wonder if I'll remember how to play!
Anyway, hope to see some of you very soon now. You'll have to take me by the hand and guide me around!
A captain! Welcome to our new member Hrothain Virthulligr. When I mentioned that as a Windrider he must be courteous and kind and help old ladies through the Great Barrows (saving all Orthodox Barrow Wight Treasures for me and not Zeral, of course!) he assure me that Virthulligr means "the Honorable" in Old Norse.
Welcome!
The Windriders are in a growth spurt lately. Tryll has purchased his mount, a blonde horse, having sold two of his crafted Light Gondorian Sheilds at auction for over a gold each!
Over on the Group, Farwing has the official welcoming post for our two new members, Daeva and Lunariel.
I'm very pleased to announce the promotion of our two officers, Locheart and Farwing. Both have been great contributors to Windriders, and with our vast geographical spread, we will now have officers available across the time zones.
As most of you know, I'll be offline during June, and I'm not quite sure when I'll be able to play again, hopefully by the middle of July. Loch and Farwing will be able to add alts and invite new members. I'm confident in their judgment and happy to be able to leave the kinship in their capable and understanding hands.
In terms of new members, my recent approach has been to get to know potential members, either personally or through kinship members who have been playing with them, before issuing an invitation. New members should clearly understand that we are horse-themed, and all members either have mounts or are working to get them, and some of us are a bit whacky on the whole topic (ie horse names and such). ;) The name Windriders of Rohan isn't just a name, it's meant to be our essence.
I also ask that members register with Vox, join the Vox Group Forum and friend the main blog. A little technical help with our Vox Group may be in order, particularly issuing invitations to join to new members once they have registered for Vox.
Potential members should also understand that we have a wide variety of play styles, and we are not end-game or seriously raiding or MP oriented as a kinship. Being voice-enabled, at least to hear, is heavily encouraged. It seems we all often enjoy just participating in our "social" fellowships where we can chat while soloing or crafting or whatever.
As a side issue, in terms of classes, we are still fairly heavily weighted toward hunters and burglars in terms of member numbers, and on a purely mechanical level this does affect our ability to put together a balanced fellowship for tough instances. Right now we are often making it through by using high level characters for help, but I would love to see us also be able to take on some of these quests as balanced teams.
Don't be shy to say hello to members of Chaotic Serenity and let Sataria, (or Fingalad or Epic) know if you are looking to put together a fellowship for big quests, as I know they have members at our levels (and higher) and they also are doing some scheduled runs of things like Great Barrows. Just send them a PM and tell them you are a Windrider and ask if they have any kin who might be interested in what you are doing.
We're sad to hear that Thidir will also be gone all summer; hopefully he'll be back when he can. Others who have vacation plans that will take them away may want to post here so we'll know not to worry about you if you disappear!
Darkwlker (Sataria) has invited us to register for the public area of Chaotic Serenity's forums at http://forums.chaoticserenity.com. If you register, please be sure to put WR in your username (ie. SefarreWR) so that he will recognize you as a Windrider.
There is a hilarious sig in Adipocere's posts--recommend viewing it! ;)
Windriders is proud to announce our newest equine "member." Bryano has purchased an outstanding blonde pony which we expect will carry him bravely through many a desperate situation.
No word yet on a name. ;)
